Shaun Wane confirmed he is considering picking the winger following his return to action for the reserves last weekend.

He scored two tries during one half of action and, crucially, there were no problems with the knee injury which had sidelined him for so long.

Wigan play at Catalans this Saturday and Wane admitted: “Dom has a chance, we’ll make a decision later in the week.

“It was good to see him back (in the reserves) after so long out. He played half a game, and physically and mentally he came through it well.”

Manfredi wrecked his knee playing against Castleford on August 12, 2016 – the year he was named in the Super League Dream Team.

A return 12 months later in a reserve match was aborted because of more trouble with the joint, which sidelined him until last Saturday’s 24-24 draw with Halifax.

Wigan are one of two Super League clubs running reserves this year and Wane admits that without a second-string side to ease him back, Manfredi may have struggled to force his way back in.

Wane hopes Gabe Hamlin and Willie Isa will recover from minor injuries suffered in Friday’s nervy 24-22 win against Castleford in time to face Catalans on Saturday.

No Warriors or Catalans players were cited by the RFL match review panel.
