Dom Manfredi out to make his own luck with Wigan Warriors

The all-action winger has had three serious knee injuries since the summer of 2016, limiting him to just 10 matches during that time until his comeback on Sunday.

He made a try-scoring return to the Wigan side in the 26-12 win against Hull FC - his first game in 10 months.

And as he hopes for an injury-free run in the side, he admits he may look at ways of adapting his game to help.

"Maybe I should learn how to have a bit of self-preservation," said Manfredi.

"It probably doesn't help with the way I play, I chuck myself in (to contact).

"It's good to be back playing again, I feel good, and I just want to stay injury-free and enjoy myself."

The 26-year-old suffered his first serious knee injury in August 2016. His 2017 was wiped out, he played six matches the following year - including a two-try show in the Grand Final - and then four games last season before suffering a third serious knee injuries.

"There are some dark days being injured and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it's really tough and it leaves its mark on you," he said. "To be back playing, I'm really grateful."
