The Kiwi prop figured in all 35 of the Warriors’ matches last season but was widely criticised by fans for failing to living up to his hype.

He was last month released from the remaining two years of his deal to rejoin Sydney Roosters where, he says, he has rediscovered his “passion” for the sport.

Reflecting on his career with Wigan, he told the Sydney Morning Herald: “It was a good experience. I enjoyed it, I don’t feel like I failed ... I was lucky enough to win a championship and World Club Challenge over there.”

He says the long season in England tired him out.

It’s just a long season if you play 40 games, [there is] no rest really compared to over here,” he added.

“I played 40 games and mentally I was just fatigued and I needed to freshen up. It was a short break, too, only five or six weeks off and then back into pre-season.”

Nuuausala has again be left out of the Sydney Roosters squad for this weekend’s game.

Anthony Gelling is waiting to make his NRL debut and is once again a reserve for the NZ Warriors.
