Adrian Lam has three valid reasons to be rooting for Sydney Roosters against St Helens in tonight’s World Club Challenge.

Firstly, the Warriors coach is of course a Roosters legend from his playing days.

Secondly, Lam’s son, Lachlan, has travelled over as part of the NRL champions’ squad.

And thirdly...well, that’s obvious!

“You want any team (to win) apart from our arch rivals!” laughed Lam.

“But obviously my son’s in their squad, he’s travelling over here and I’ll be cheering for them.

“I think it’ll be a tough game, we know how hard it is to go to St Helens and get a win.

“They’re a team that are playing with a lot of confidence, and I think the loss last week against Warrington which will maybe help focus their minds.”

Lam already has youngest son Bailey – who joined the Warriors Academy at the start of the year – over with him, and has enjoyed having Lachlan around this week.

“I’ve been trying to see him as much as I can, because obviously his brother’s over here with us at the moment,” Lam acknowledged.

“To have them both together is nice, it’s something you do miss.

“The younger one’s just finished high school, and I thought it would be a good opportunity for him to come and play here.

“Hopefully he’ll get a crack himself with the first team at some point.”

Tonight’s game is live on Sky Sports (7.45pm kick-off).
