Scans have confirmed Wigan’s worst fears that the forward suffered a broken collarbone during Friday’s 26-6 win against Warrington.

The injury rules him out of their final two matches of the season – against Huddersfield, on Thursday, and the following Friday’s home match with Hull FC – as well as the semi-final and the Grand Final, should they reach Old Trafford.

Coach Shaun Wane said: “We’re not 100 per cent sure if he’s going to need an operation or not, but either way he is done for the year.

“It’s a massive blow, no question. It’s really unfortunate for him.”

The former Widnes forward, who earlier this year signed a new contract with Wigan, has been praised for his whole-hearted performances this season – either at centre or in the second-row.

Wane added: “Willie has filled in several positions this season and in every match, has given his all.

“It will give us extra motivation to do something this season.”

Isa’s spot is likely to be filled by in-form Joe Greenwood, who is available for the trip to Huddersfield after serving a one-match ban.

Wane will make a call on Welsh prop Ben Flower (back) tomorrow, after team run, but indicated captain Sean O’Loughlin may sit out to nurse his calf injury.

Front-line players Joe Burgess, Liam Marshall, Chris Hankinson and Liam Farrell are also sidelined.

Of those, only Farrell is expected to return before the end of the season.

Reports elsewhere linking Wigan with a move for Kiwi forward Kenny Edwards have been firmly shot down by Catalans coach Steve McNamara.

He told League Weekly Edwards is under contract for 2019 and was not leaving.

Warrington’s Tom Lineham has been banned for three matches by the RFL for his high shot on Wigan winger Dom Manfredi last Friday.
