And with their other two Tests against New Zealand taking place in Yorkshire – starting with last Saturday’s opener at Hull – the second Test on Sunday, November 4 is likely to be popular for fans from the north west.

The RFL is selling the match to sports-lovers as a chance to enjoy the roar of the Kop, the history and electric atmosphere of the ground – as well a chance to enjoy a beer in their seat.

A crowd of more than 40,000 watched Australia beat the Kiwis 34-8 in the Four Nations final at Liverpool’s ground two years ago, although RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer said he was predicting a gate of around 25,000 this weekend.

But members of ‘Our League’ save £5 on tickets, meaning they could watch the action from as little as £20 for adults and £7.50 concessions.
