The prop yesterday agreed a contract which will keep him at the Warriors until the end of 2020.

He turned down interest from within Super League and the NRL to stay at the club he joined in 2012.

And with his partner expecting next Monday, he’s hoping a victory against Brisbane on Saturday can make it a special week.

Flower said: “It’d be pretty nice to beat them this time.

“I’m excited to play against them an hopefully come away with a win, and set a benchmark for the team to keep a high level all year.”

The 28-year-old missed last year’s 14-12 defeat in golden-point.

“We should have won it but unfortunately it came down to a kick in extra-time – I thought it should have ended a draw,” he said.

“It was a weird one. Lucky enough, we’ve got them again and it’d be nice to beat them this time.

“I’m pretty sure the boys will all be up for it.”

Having rejected interest from the NRL, Flower concedes this game is a great chance to see how he goes against Brisbane’s international front-row pair of Sam Thaiday and Adam Blair.

“100 per cent, those boys who play for Brisbane are class players, top of the bunch,” he added.

“To test myself against them, you’ll see where Wigan’s props are in the world. It’s down to us to muscle up and match them.” The Welsh international has become an integral part of the Warriors side.

“At 28, I think I’ve got the best years ahead of me,” he said.

“I’ll just go out and play as hard as I can, as best I can.”

Coach Shaun Wane added: “I’m glad we’ve kept him because if we’re going to keep challenging for trophies, we are going to need players of the calibre of Ben in our squad.

“He is one the best props in Super League and he was in demand. It’s great news for us.”
