Warriors face table-topping Hull FC on Friday, looking for a place in their 31st final, but will have to improve their attack to reach Wembley.

Despite having lost their last two games, away to Leeds and last week’s derby against St Helens, Mossop says confidence is high in the squad.

“We got beaten at the weekend but it’s one of the best we’ve defended so if we back that up again and sort out attack out then we’ll be going there full of confidence,” he said.

“To lose a derby against Saints is obviously gutting but you have to put that to the back of your mind straight away because the prize at the end of this week’s game is massive.”

But the Airlie Birds have won their last two, and having finished the regular season on pole position, Mossop has warned Warriors will need to find their best form to avoid missing out on the final.

“We’ll try and put out one of our best performances, and we’ll have to if we’re going to beat Hull,” he said.

“If you win it’s one of the best feelings ever and to win it with your mates – there’s nothing really comes close – so we’ll have to make sure we’re our best this week to do it for the boys who haven’t experienced it.”

Having endured an injury-hit season in the NRL in 2014, the 27-year-old is enjoying seeing more regular action this term.

He made 19 appearances in a row between March and July, before missing the home win over Wakefield through suspension, and he is proud of how the forwards have stood their ground during a campaign which has seen the squad ravaged by injuries.

“Years gone by I was probably one of those sat on the injury bench and now I’m over my issues,” he said.

“Apart from the start of the season, which I missed through a neck injury, I’ve been fine which is great for me and something I’ve wanted to do for years.

“I’m enjoying playing every game and being one of those senior players and I need to keep raising my performances.

“We’ve had massive injuries and it’s a credit to us how we’ve stuck together and got through it.”
