New deal for Wigan Warriors flyer Tom Davies

Tom Davies has signed a new five-year contract that will see him stay with Wigan Warriors until the end of the 2023 season.

The 21-year-old winger scored 14 tries from 24 games in his debut seaosn last term.

Handed the number two jersey ahead of the new season, a fine start to the campaign has seen him named in the England Knights train-on squad.

Davies said: “To sign a new deal at a club like Wigan is a huge honour for me. I’m committed to this club and what we’re about and believe in everything that we’re doing here so to be apart of the future here long term is massive for me.

“I want to reach my goals in rugby as a team as well as an individual and I’ve no doubt that Wigan is the best club for me to do that with. I’ve got lots of respect for all of the team, Shaun Wane and the rest of the coaching staff so to be a part of this group now and in the future means a great deal to me.

“I just want say thank you to all the people that have helped me along the way to get me to where I am now because without them it would not have been possible.”

Warriors coach, Shaun Wane, said: “I am so pleased that Tom has extended his time with the club. Tom is a fantastic example for any young player wanting to progress in any sport. Hard work, perseverance and a desire to improve are all attributes that he possesses in abundance.”
