“I’m really happy, the first 30 minutes were faultless. Overall when you look at that scoreline, in a quarter-final against a very good team, I’m very happy.

“I thought it was tough. Our attack was great, and our starting middles were really good.

“I’ve got a really good group, they’ve created a good family atmosphere. The spirit we have created is so enjoyable.

“This is the first real camp I’ve been in with these players. I knew they could play but they’ve played better and gelled quicker than I thought.

“Training has been slicker than I expected. They are really good players who can get things quickly.

“My job is to bring them together and give them a good environment where we let them play. There’s a bit of structure, but I want to see what they can do.

“I can’t put into words how enjoyable it is for me, as a Wigan man, England man, coaching these players every day.”
