Wane saluted the academy-product for a destructive display against Leeds at the Magic Weekend,

But he is aware he has figured in 17 competitive games already this season – at the coal-face in the middle – and may take him out of the firing line.

He said: “I’ve never said about any player before that someone has made three errors and been outstanding.

“That’s how good he was. For a young kid, he’s been outstanding.

“I’m not going to keep him in the firing line for that long – I’ll do the right thing for him – but he’s in great form.”

Wane handed Sutton his debut in 2014 and he totalled 20 appearances before this season.

“He’s a good pro’, a nice kid, who works hard on extras,” said Wane.

“He loves the fact we pick his game to pieces – he’s not one of those who thinks he’s been there and done it.

“He’s a competitor and wants to improve, and that’s why he fits in so well here.”

Wane may wait for Sean O’Loughlin’s return from injury before giving Sutton his break on the sidelines.

But until then, the former Ince Rose Bridge junior is not taking his place in the side for granted.

“I’m pleased to be in
the side but there are always areas to improve,” he said.

“When I came through I didn’t really think about how many games or the competition for places.

“My mentality was just to train my best and hopefully I’d get picked – and that’s the same now.”

Forward Joe Bretherton is on stand-by to face Castleford if Joel Tomkins doesn’t recover from a knee injury to feature.

Liam Farrell, who is currently out with a rib injury, was not named in yesterday’s 19-man squad.
