Catalans Dragons have made the full-back, who is out of contract with Wigan at the end of this season, a priority target for next season.

The French outfit’s interest emerged earlier this week and since then, speculation has intensified that Tomkins will move to the Dragons for 2019.

So far there has been no comment from any of the parties involved.

But even if there is no announcement today, Shaun Wane will stage his regular weekly press conference tomorrow and will no doubt be asked to shed light on the development.

Players are usually made available to interview as well and, whether a deal is tied up or not, the media will inevitably want to speak to Tomkins.

Wigan face Catalans this Saturday and the 29-year-old is expected to be in Wane’s 19-man squad when it is revealed today, having recovered from a sickness bug to play a starring role in Easter Monday’s win.

If there is no confirmation by the time of the match, Dragons coach Steve McNamara will be asked about their pursuit of Tomkins at the post-game press conference.
