Tomkins set for Warriors exit

The forward - banned by the club for the off-field controversy which also saw him him fined £10,000 - appears set for a move to Hull KR.

Reports emerging from Hull suggest a deal, possibly running until the end of next year, has been agreed.

The Robins made a move for Tomkins after he was suspended for four weeks by the Warriors for the viral video showing him drunkenly abusing bar-staff.

If his move is completed the 31-year-old could make his debut for Tim Sheens’ side next weekend.

The former dual-code England international would add considerable experience in their bid to preserve their Super League status.

He was under contract for another 18 months with Wigan, who have been linked with a move to bring English forward Joe Greenwood back from the NRL.

But the club admitted his off-field controversy had left him facing an uncertain future.

Although his form since he returned from rugby union has not been as good as his first stint, this would mark a disappointing way for his career with his hometown club to come to an end.

He made his debut for Wigan back in 2005 and was part of the squad which won the Grand Final in 2010.

Arguably his single-biggest highlight came the following year, when he scored a stunning try at Wembley in their Challenge Cup Final win against Leeds.

He left to join Saracens later that season and fulfilled his ambition of playing for England, before returning home.
