Was Liam Marshall's knee injury linked to the lock-down layoff?

The Warriors boss admits he "feared" players would suffer such injury problems when the season restarted after a five month break.

Marshall, who will have his knee scanned tomorrow, limped off in Saturday's 30-22 win against Castleford.

And coach Lam said: "We've had an injury to Liam, and I've been afraid of it happening across Super League at every club.

"That's the concern for me, you look at the NRL now, there are a lot of injuries - higher than in the past.

"There are a lot of knee injuries, prior to contact.

"When you haven't played in so long and hit the high speed in training, and you come back in... it wouldn't surprise me if it was linked to the break and the lack of time in preparation."

He added: "He can't get in for a scan until (today), it doesn't look good but fingers crossed it's only three or four weeks. But we'll have to wait and see."

Dom Manfredi is likely to replace him after missing out last weekend on compassionate grounds.

Joe Burgess - recalled on Saturday in place of Manfredi - may keep his place, though Lam also has the option of moving Jake Bibby to the wing to accommodate the return of centre Oliver Gildart.
