Why Wigan Warriors ace Williams is hungry like a Wolf!

The Wigan stand-off is deep into preparation for the title showdown with Warrington at Old Trafford.

And he has been fuelled by meals provided by Pemberton’s ‘The Lean Kitchen’ – which is co-owned by Wolves star Kevin Brown.

“Kev’s been good to me with The Lean Kitchen, he sorts me out with meal prep to keep the body good,” said Williams.

“I’ll have to check what I get this week!

“But seriously, they’ve been great and I’m really thankful for it.

“I class Kev as a mate, we roomed together during the World Cup in Australia and we get on well, and not only that but he showed me a few things too.

“I wish him all the best, but obviously not on Saturday.”

Wigan beat Warrington in both their previous Grand Final victories under Shaun Wane, in 2013 and three years later.

Williams was involved in the 2016 victory and believes there are distinct differences between that Wolves side and now.

“There are different players but as well, they look a different side,” said the 23-year-old. “Defensively they’re better, Steve Price has done a good job for them.”

Saturday’s showcase encounter will, of course, mark the end of a chapter as Wane, Sam Tomkins, Ryan Sutton and John Bateman depart.

Williams said: “As a group, believe it or not but the spirit is unbelievable – even if they weren’t leaving we’d want to do it as much.

“We’ve done well over the last few weeks.

“We’ve had some scrappy wins, don’t get me wrong, but we’ve won and the momentum has stayed with us – and we’ve got one more to go.”

Wane and counterpart Price will today name their 19-man squads. Wigan are expected to field the same 17 players which beat Castleford 14-0 in last week’s semi-final.

Williams, meanwhile, will be joined in the England squad next week by Oliver Gildart, 22, following the centre’s late call-up this week.

“People think he’s older than he is because of what he’s already done in his career but he’s a credit to himself,” added Williams.
