There were fears Canberra-bound Sutton could have played his last game for Wigan when he sustained a knee injury during last month’s Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Warrington, but he is pencilled in to return early in the Super 8s.

And Wane thinks Sutton’s presence will give the rest of his pack a push.

“He’s been a big miss,” said the coach.

“Our middles have been not bothered by any competition at all so having Ryan there, he’s going to up their performance in a big way.”

Wane said Sutton will be back in action in either the first or second game of the Super 8s, with this weekend’s break for the Challenge Cup semi-finals giving the prop an extra week to recover.

“He’s running alright and in a straight line now on the Alter G,” said Wane.

“He’s looking pretty good.”

Meanwhile. Taulima Tautai has been charged with Grade D dangerous contact during last week’s Catalans game. He could face a ban of between three and five matches.
