Jack Wells is heading to Salford

Wigantoday understands he will join winger Joe Burgess in switching from Wigan to the Red Devils at the end of this campaign.

And that means forward Wells has played his last game for the Warriors, following his knee-injury in last week’s 42-0 loss against St Helens.

There has been no confirmation as Salford have a policy of only announcing signings at the end of a season.

But Burgess’ move was tied up earlier this year and the club will also take Wells on board when his Wigan deal runs out.

The 23-year-old broke into the team in 2016 but has had a nightmare run with successive foot injuries.

His appearance in the 28-16 win against Wakefield on September 25 was his first for the club in three years.

He backed that up by facing Saints four days later but suffered a dislocated kneecap, and a ligament injury, midway through the first-half which will rule him out for the rest of 2020.
