England celebrate their Test series win over New Zealand

Saints winger Tommy Makinson – a former St Judes junior – scored a hat-trick of tries to secure a thrilling 20-14 victory at Anfield. And Warriors stand-off Williams said: “I loved it.“Playing for your country is the pinnacle but as a massive Liverpool fan, doing it at Anfield... it doesn’t get any bigger for me. This is the top.“When we were eight points down but they got behind us and got us home.“It was a proper Test, there were a few scuffles and hit off the ball a couple times, but that’s what you want. I“Either Test could have gone either way, we’re under no illusions they’re a great team.”He praised match-winner Makinson, and said: “It’s not just his tries, but his work out of our end - he’s got a big heart.”Wigan team-mate Oliver Gildart and departing duo Sam Tomkins and John Bateman also started for coach Wayne Bennett’s side. The teams were level 6-6 at the break before the Kiwis took a 14-6 lead. But the hosts - cheered on by 26,000-plus fans at Anfield - roared back to condemn Michael Maguire to a third loss as Kiwi coach, all against England.“To get it wrapped us is really good and we want to go out on a high next week,” said Bateman.“It was a tough game, we had to dig deep and get through it and that’s what we did.”
