The departing Wigan full-back was cited by the match review panel and will get a one-game suspension, unless he chooses to successful contest the charge.

Tomkins is joining Catalans Dragons next year but is in the England squad for the autumn internationals.

The RFL confirmed he can serve his ban by missing England’s match against France at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday, even though players from Wigan and Warrington weren’t likely to be considered by Wayne Bennett.

Wolves coach Steve Price said after Wigan’s 12-4 title triumph that he felt Tomkins should have been sinbinned for the trip. His trip on Bryson Goodwin has not been punished further.

Meanwhile, Thomas Leuluai has also been handed a one-match penalty notice for Grade B dangerous contact but he can serve that punishment by missing Wigan’s first pre-season friendly of 2019.

No Wire players picked up charges.
