Wigan hit the Wembley trail when they head to Hull KR this Sunday.

And Davies is determined to go all the way in the competition after missing out on last year’s final in the cruellest of fashions.

He was due to face Hull FC but withdrew minutes before kick-off with an ankle injury. Davies said: “I’ll do everything I can to get back there.

“Last year was a massive moment, it was my first final and it was heartbreaking to miss out.

“But in the warm-up, my ankle wasn’t right and I thought, ‘I’ll never forgive myself if I go down early in the game and we lose because of me’.

“So I made the right call... and then I went and cried on Joel Tomkins’ shoulder.”
