Liam Farrell is hoping Melbourne’s weather forecast remains the same ahead of England’s clash with Australia on Sunday.
The temperature in the city should be around 19 degrees celsius, only slightly warmer the current climate in Wigan - much more forgiving than the 33 degrees Farrell and the rest of the England squad endured in Brisbane when they edged past Samoa.
“The conditions were the toughest I have played in,” said Farrell.
“It was hotter than when we came out here with Wigan for the World Club Challenge.
“The weather plus the ruck speed made it a lot harder for us. We will recognise that and improve.”
While Wiganers will be getting up in the dark to see the coverage which starts on BBC 2 at 4.30am, Farrell will be making his final preparations to join fellow Warriors Matty Smith, Josh Charnley and Joel Tomkins in action - and is confident they can produce the goods.
He said: “We always seem to start these tournaments quite rusty. We did it against Italy before the World Cup so we are glad that didn’t happen again.”
