Four Warriors named in Knights squad

FOUR rising Warriors stars have been named in the England Knights squad to face Samoa on October 19 at Salford City Stadium.

Dom Crosby, Iain Thornley, Scott Taylor and Sam Powell have all earned the call-up into Keiron Purtill’s squad which is made up of players form 10 different Super League clubs.

Six of the squad have been developed in Wigan, with Saints duo Jonny Lomax (Orrell St James’), and Tom Makinson (Wigan St Jude’s) being joined by Warrington’s Stefan Ratchford (Wigan St Patrick’s.)

Thorney and Powell came through the ranks at Wigan St Pat’s with Dom Crosby learning his trade playing for Wigan and Leigh College.

Warriors’ Taylor grew-up playing for Hull-based Skirlaugh.

The England Knights v Samoa match will act as the curtain-raiser for England v Italy as the nations clash for the first time ever.
