Gabriel Hamlin has vowed to “leave nothing in the tank” when he makes his Wigan debut today.
Shaun Wane plans to include the Australian prop in his side to face Hull KR at the DW Stadium.
The 21-year-old, a former Souths junior, has patiently been waiting for his big chance since arriving at the club in the winter.
And he can’t wait to unleash his frustrations on the pitch and try and stake a claim for a regular role.
Hamlin said: “I just want to show what I’ve got.
“I’ll be pretty aggressive - I am anxious and angry I guess, I’ve not been able to hit someone properly for a while!
“It’s a big game for me, because I don’t want to sit on the sidelines any more.
“I don’t want to come off the field with any regrets.
“I’ll leave nothing in the tank and hopefully I can do myself proud, my team proud and my family proud.”
Hamlin has impressed Wane in training and his matches for the reserves - as well as the friendlies at the start of the year.
“He’s done everything asked of him,” said the coach.
But with the likes of Ben Flower, Tony Clubb, Ryan Sutton and Taulima Tautai ahead of him, the compact front-rower has been unable to nudge into the squad.
“I do understand it, but it is hard,” said Hamlin, who was signed after endorsements from Pat Richards and Michael Maguire.
“I want to play, I’m across the world away from my family and you do question if it’s worth it when you’re not playing.
“But I’ve been patient, I’ve got a chance now and I want to put it in my own hands. If I play well, I should be able to play week in, week out.
“I want to play as many as possible and hopefully this is my first of many.”
Frenchman Romain Navarrete, centre Dan Sarginson and winger Liam Marshall are also expected to come into the side.
“They’ll give us some energy, there are a few bruised and battered bodies,” said Wane, who will rest Sean O’Loughlin from the side beaten 21-18 on Good Friday.
Sam Tomkins should replace Morgan Escare, who failed a concussion test after leaving the action in the second-half.
Hamlin watched the derby from the stands and said: “It was very, very loud. I didn’t expect it to be like that.
“I’d love to be a part of that one day.”
