GARETH Hock’s departure from his hometown club is expected to be announced this week.
The England forward looks set to join the Vikings on a season-long loan after his relationship with Wigan soured. Salford were also chasing him.
A loan move to Widnes, where his brother-in-law Kevin Brown is captain, leaves the door open for a possible return to the Warriors – and has other considerable benefits.
Hock will have a chance to shine on a weekly basis for Denis Betts’ side, keeping his stock high should Wigan choose to sell him at the end of this season to another Super League or NRL club.
A loan also prevents Widnes selling him for a quick profit to one of Wigan’s major opponents.
The Evening Post revealed last week that Hock was poised for a departure.
