THEY are as close to the team in 4th than 1st, but Sam Powell insists Wigan aren’t looking over their shoulders as the season enters the crunch phase.
Just four games remain until the play-offs begin to determine the two Grand Finalists.
Challenge Cup winners Leeds are charging away at the top of the Super 8s ladder on 39 points - four more than second-placed Wigan - with Huddersfield, St Helens (both 32) and Castleford (30) leading the chasing pack.
And Powell has targeted a perfect run to the end of the season with six straight wins - starting with Saturday’s game against Catalans in London.
Having missed out on last weekend’s Challenge Cup Final, he said: “We’ve spoken about it, and there are still two trophies to go for.
“We need to make sure we win every game, that’ll us give us a shot of winning two.
“We’re not stupid, Leeds are obviously in a great position to claim the league leaders’ shield, and we know even if we win all of our games we’re going to need them to slip up as well.
“That’s out of our hands. But if we go unbeaten, we give ourselves a great chance - and then we’ll have the Grand Final.”
Wigan appear in good health as they prepare for Saturday’s on the road clash against the Dragons.
Winger Joe Burgess, hooker Micky McIlorum, centre Anthony Gelling and prop Taulima Tautai come into the frame, having missed their last game - a 28-0 hammering of Warrington.
