NEW-boy Scott Taylor will make his first appearance for Wigan this weekend.

The prop – recruited from Hull KR in the off-season – is included in the squad to face Leigh in the Warriors’ first of four pre-season friendlies.

Kiwi Anthony Gelling, Welsh prop Gil Dudson and academy graduates Iain Thornley and Logan Tomkins are also included in a youthful panel.

But it is arguably the presence of Taylor which will interest many of the spectators – the 21-year-old is one of just two signings made by Shaun Wane ahead of the 2013 campaign, which gets underway four weeks today.

Wane said: “Scott has settled in well and he’s looking forward to getting a run-out.

“I think the pre-season camp in America maybe surprised him a bit in terms of the intensity, but he’s really keen to make an impression.”

Wane will let the club’s head of youth John Winder call the shots in Sunday’s match.”
