IAIN Thornley is hoping his inclusion in Shaun Wane’s initial 19-man squad to face Huddersfield tonight will give him the chance to impress.
The 21-year-old appeared in the Warriors’ 70-0 semi final win over the London Broncos a fortnight ago but hasn’t featured in Super League since scoring a try in the last-gasp 26-20 win over Bradford Bulls a month ago.
Cook Islands international Anthony Gelling has been playing in Thornley’s position for the past five Super League games but the ex-Sale Sharks man insists he enjoys the competition for places.
“It’s great to have that competition,” said Thornley.
“You don’t want to have that complacency.
“You want to be on your toes all the time and it is good for competition and it is good for consistency and development.”
Thornley currently has 11 tries this season.
