TWO more Wigan fringe players have agreed dual-registration deals, writes Phil Wilkinson.
Hooker Logan Tomkins and prop Dom Crosby have joined Co-operative Championship side Widnes Vikings. The deals allow the players to play for either Wigan or Widnes, combined with training at both clubs. Both players have yet to make their Super League debuts but impressed during Warriors’ pre-season programme, following their step up to the senior squad.
Ben Davies (loan) and Jack Hughes (dual-registration) are currently playing at Barrow.
Michael Maguire is a big advocate of allowing fringe players to gain experience at other clubs, with Chris Tuson and Liam Farrell among those who have benefitted from stints away from the Warriors.
Warriors rugby manager Kris Radlinski said: “We are very comfortable with the environment that Widnes provides and know that our players will be in the good hands of (ex-Wigan players) Denis Betts and Mick Cassidy.
“Every party benefits out of the arrangement, with the players getting tougher rugby which is good for them.”
