WIGAN were due to land back from America today with Shaun Wane declaring the trip an overwhelming success.
The first-team squad has spent 10 days at a training base in sun-kissed Florida where they have amped up their preparations for the new season, which begins in six weeks.
And Wane addressed their short-falls from last season – and told his players in no uncertain terms he wants a “different attitude” in 2013.
He said: “We spoke about last season.
“For 95 per cent of the season we were good, but for five per cent we weren’t, and we’ve spoken about that.
“I want a different attitude next season, and the players have responded brilliantly.
“They’re in great shape, they’re doing everything we’ve asked of them and more.
“We’ve had a good pre-season, but we had a good pre-season last year and fell away – so we’re not getting carried away, we know there’s a lot of hard work.”
There has also been a team-building element to the trip, too, to help new recruits Blake Green and Scott Taylor to integrate into the squad.
“Our time on the dry pitches in Orlando has provided us with a great chance to focus on skills and fitness as well as spending our downtime wisely in team meetings where we review, analyse and challenge ourselves – as well as reinforcing our standards and setting goals for the year ahead,” he said.
Wigan return to training at Orrell tomorrow.
l FANS are reminded the early-bird deadline for Seasonal Memberships is this Friday, starting at £221 for adults and £26 for juniors.
