WIGAN’S home fixture against Salford City Reds has been switched to Monday, August 20 - because of Latics’ Premier League opener the previous day.
The Super League game was originally scheduled for Friday, August 17.
But a club statement said it “has been moved following the involvement of the Premier League and discussions between Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic.”
Latics open their Premier League campaign against Chelsea on the Sunday afternoon, August 19, in a game that is being screened live by Sky Sports.
Previously, two day windows between the fixtures have been allowed, and earlier this season Latics chairman Dave Whelan allowed Warriors to play a Cup match against St Helens the day before a Latics fixture, after the BBC insisted Shaun Wane’s side played on the Saturday.
Wigan thank Salford for their co-operation in agreeing to this change and apologised to supporters for any inconvenience caused.
