Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan has revealed an announcement is due ‘in the next day or so’ into the club’s internal investigation into an off-field incident.
The investigation was launched after claims two players were fighting outside a town centre gym on May 27.
And Warriors are yet to make an announcement on the availability of John Bateman as uncertainty over his position drags into a third week.
Given the forward hasn’t appeared since the 33-26 win at Castleford on May 26, with no explanation for his absence other than coach Shaun Wane saying he was “not available for selection” for the win at Salford two weeks ago, Bateman has inevitably been linked with the off-field controversy.
Wigan had promised a full statement once their own investigation is complete, and Lenagan has indicated the club’s next course of action will be made public in the coming days.
He told Wigan TV: “We have reached a conclusion and will be making an announcement in the next day or so.”
Meanwhile, Bateman continues to be linked with a move to the NRL while speculation continues to bubble.
Australia’s Rugby League Week have linked the 22-year-old, who was an NRL target before signing a new deal with Wigan last season, to a move to Canberra.
