WIGAN will have one shy of a full team of representatives at the World Cup after the squads were officially unveiled yesterday.
Harrison Hansen has been named in Samoa’s 24-man pool, with utility back Anthony Gelling set to turn out for the Cook Islands.
Departing points machine Pat Richards will carry Ireland’s hopes, while Gil Dudson, Ben Flower and Rhodri Lloyd were named in Iestyn Harris’ Wales squad.
Andy Powell misses out through a neck injury.
The bulk of the dozen are in Steve McNamara’s England squad, with Josh Charnley, Liam Farrell, Mike McIlorum, Lee Mossop, Sean O’Loughlin and Sam Tomkins all flying the flag for the hosts.
There are also a number of Wigan old-boys in the shape of Gareth Hock (England), Dave Allen, Bob Beswick, Eamon O’Carroll (all Ireland), Thomas Leuluai (New Zealand), Oliver Wilkes (Scotland) and Jordan James (Wales).
Meanwhile, children will be admitted free to England’s friendly with Italy at Salford on Saturday, October 19 (4.30pm) in their final hit-out ahead of the World Cup.
