Tonight, the Warriors squad will formally bring the curtain down on the campaign with an awards dinner at the DW Stadium.

Wigan will announce their own awards, including the player of the year - departing John Bateman is likely to be in the mix, given he was shortlisted for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel.

Wigan also said they expect to make an announcement early this week on Zak Hardaker’s drink-drive conviction. Fans are waiting to discover whether he will be given another chance or shown the door.

Super League officials, with Wigan, are expected to hold talks with their counterparts at the NRL and premiers Sydney Roosters about next year’s World Club Challenge.

It is unclear whether either side has a desire to travel to the other side of the world for the annual, early-season showcase game.

England play France on Wednesday at the Leigh Sports Village, although players from Grand Finalists Wigan and Warrington are not expected to figure. The second-string England Knights, including Tom Davies and Sam Powell, depart for Down Under the following day to prepare for two matches against Papua New Guinea.
