WIGAN Warriors will kick-off their 2016 Super League season at home to Catalans Dragons on Friday, February 5.

Shaun Wane’s men face a trip to Huddersfield Giants the following week before taking on Brisbane Broncos on Saturday, February 20, in a repeat of last season’s World Club Series clash.

Fans will need their passports ready for Saturday, July 2, when Warriors travel to play Catalans away at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

All three opening fixtures will be televised live by Sky Sports, with the first non-televised match coming against Salford Red Devils at the DW Stadium on Friday, February 26.

It is St Helens’ turn to host the Good Friday derby this year, but the venue for Wigan’s home Easter Monday clash with Hull KR is yet to be confirmed as it clashes with Wigan Athletic’s home game against Rochdale.

Wigan fans need to make arrangements for Thursday night rugby league five times in the opening 23 rounds, at home to Widnes on March 17 and Huddersfield on April 21, while Wigan are away to Warrington on April 28, Castleford on May 26 and Widnes on June 16.

The first phase of the season before the Supers 8s begins sees Wigan travel to Leeds in round 22 on Friday, July 15 before hosting St Helens on Friday July 22 in round 23.

Super League General Manager Blake Solly said: “2015 was one of the best years ever for Super League and I am really looking forward to see if 2016 can be just as exciting. The new league structure is now into its second year and it gives every team the opportunity to create some incredible moments and memories.”
