Lift off for rockers' documentary

British Airways is currently screening Surburban Confinement, a short film about rockers Slydigs, whose line-up includes Lowton musician Louis Menguy, as part of its in-flight entertainment.

The 15-minute documentary charts the story so far of the band, made up of guitarist and backing vocalist Louis, rhythm guitarist and lead singer Dean Fairhurst, bassist Ben Breslin and drummer Peter Fleming, including interviews with members about the group’s history.

The film, which is in the music and arts section of the in-flight programme options, also looks at some of the extraordinary recent successes enjoyed by the group, which has become one of the mostly hotly-tipped names on the British music scene.

Earlier this year, Slydigs teamed up with rock icons The Who for a month-long tour of the USA and Canada, having previously opened up for Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and co at a number of UK arena gigs.

The band then followed up its Stateside travels with a UK and Europe-wide jaunt supporting Los Angeles rhythm ‘n’ blues quartet Vintage Trouble, which saw them play venues in Germany, France and the Netherlands.

And the group did not rest on their laurels after getting back to the UK as Slydigs headlined a London show at The Borderline and played at the Kendal Calling festival.

In between all the travelling, the band also found time to head into the recording studio to commit its new five-track EP to disc.

The follow-up to Down With The Mockery is also called Suburban Confinement and features some of the tracks which fans have been rocking out to at their global live shows.

The group has had rave reviews for its recordings and its live outings, with critics comparing Slydigs to classic rock acts The Kinks and The Stone Roses.
