Jamie, who lives near Goose Green, has recorded Christmas song Me and Mrs Elf about the mischievous adventures of the elf of the shelf.

And the dad-of-three is also thinking of children who will not be able to visit Santa in his grotto or enjoy other festive traditions this year and dressing up as an elf to record personalised video messages.

Jamie has felt the impact of the novel coronavirus himself in 2020 as his business, which provides singing waiters for weddings, has ground to a halt with big events being cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19.

He started working on the festive track, which also has an animated video to go with it, and his work as what he calls a “mental elf” as a way of keeping himself occupied.

Jamie, 45, said: “At the moment there’s not much doing for my business and I’m going a little bit stir crazy.

“I had this Christmas song so thought I would rush to get it out.

“Things have developed from there and it has helped to keep me busy and sane. It gives me something to focus on while the world is at a stop.

“This year I’ve become a ‘mental elf’ to protect my mental health.

“When lockdown two came along I realised there won’t be the Christmas grottos for kids this year and wondered if I could do something to bridge the gap.

“I decided to do these personalised elf messages to create a bit of extra Christmas magic for children. Parents send me what their children would like for Christmas and a few things they’ve done well this year, the sort of things they would say if they went to meet Santa.”

The novel coronavirus also affected how Jamie produced his Christmas song, which he wrote with Mike Wheeler who he met at various songwriting events as well as Liverpool FC’s Champions League matches at Anfield.

Jamie recorded the jazzy track in his home studio and sent the parts backwards and forwards to his producer, with other musicians having to add their contributions from home too.

Jamie has also created a range of Me and Mrs Elf Christmas jumpers and worked with Hot Frog Animations to create a Monty Python-style video.

The result is a quirky visual accompaniment to the song featuring musical penguins, a grandmother in a rocking chair and a family eating Christmas dinner around their table as well as the elf getting up to no good by drinking beer, climbing the tree and scaring Rudolph.

Jamie says he is particularly proud of the fact that his latest song has been a hit with his own children, with his daughter Amelia and younger son Charlie the ones who most enthusiastically sing along.
