ONE of Wigan’s newest music venues will get its 2015 programme under way with two gigs next weekend.
Rockers Deepshade will take to the stage on a night blending heavy sounds with mellow acoustic music in The Bailiff Bar at The Old Courts, on Crawford Street, on Friday January 16.
They will be followed the following day by Lyon Road and Mind The Gap on a night spanning rock, alternative sounds and funk.
Three-piece Deepshade, influenced by psychedelic music and the grunge scene of early 1990s Seattle, will showcase tracks from their upcoming album Everything Popular is Wrong which is due for release in the spring and is being recorded at The Old Courts.
However, before the group take to the stage, frontman David Rybka and his fellow Victorian Dad member Matthew Gallagher will perform acoustic guitar sets.
David said: “I don’t know how it’s going to go down because the first half will be quite mellow and intimate. As long as people have their earplugs ready in time for the second half it should be fine.”
Deepshade will perform at The Old Courts in a gig featuring acoustic sets from David Rybka and Matthew Gallagher on Friday January 16, with doors at 8pm. Entry is free.
Lyon Road and Mind The Gap will play the same venue on Saturday January 17. Doors are at 7.30pm and entry is £3, to be paid on the door.
