A YEAR of hard work has finally paid off for Wigan rockers Abraham Saints with the release of debut EP ImagineNation.
The six-piece alternative rock group formed in 2013 but said recent changes to the line-up are one of the main reasons for getting their songs released.
The group recruited frontman Andy Sutton and drummer Gareth Leyland to join previous members Andy Goulding and Mike Alker on guitars, Marc Hope on keyboards and Paul Southward on bass and backing vocals and says they have definitely not been deterred by the shake-up.
Lead guitarist Andy said: “After long discussions and the recruitment of a new singer and drummer we decided just to book a block session with The Lounge recording studio in Wigan, which took a total of five days of recording.
“Doing this gave us a bit of a push as we only have three written and polished songs. Gasoline, Take it Away and Who Am I To Say.
“The other three were still needing that final polish in terms of writing and getting the structures more fluid in the songs.
“After a few weeks of practicing and trying out loads of different things, we finally finished the remaining tracks and got on with the recording.”
The EP follows on from Abraham Saints’ first single Above The Storm and Little Warrior, a charity single written for a youngster who was battling cancer.
The band’s sound nods towards legendary Britpop acts such as Oasis, The Verve and Ocean Colour Scene but blends this with the diverse musical enthusiasms of the band members.
The group is now hoping to tour the new material while writing further songs to create a debut album.
Andy said: “Without sounding too clichéd, I honestly believe we have our own unique sound.
“This is all down to the fact that we come from different musical backgrounds, we all have our own tastes in music.
“That said, when we write, we write together and all those influences mingle. Paul and Marc have a history of Manchester rock, Andy and Gareth are more into their heavy rock, I enjoy blues guitar and Mike has a country background.”
ImagineNation by Abraham Saints is out now on the band’s SoundCloud page.
