AN exciting one-day live music festival hits Wigan town centre tomorrow (Saturday).
Wigan Leisure Culture Trust (WLCT), Wigan Council’s town centre management and 2112 Music Community have joined forces to organise a new entertainment gig - Bands for All.
Building on the back of last year’s musical celebration for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the free event will host lesser-known and unsigned youthful bands and musicians, in Market Place, in Wigan, tomorrow from 11am until 5.30pm.
Town centre manager Mike Matthews said: “Wigan Council and the town centre management group have taken on running an annual music festival for up and coming bands.
“We have partnered with 2112 Music Community who already work with a variety of bands.
“They have provided us with our line up for the day and I know they are proud to have been given the opportunity to re-boot the original grass roots Haigh Festival, for the benefit of the bands and the people who are there to enjoy them.
“We are hoping lots of people will enjoy the event and support the bands and new talent.
“We also have an appearance from Keith’s Teeth and Friends, as our special guest band, who offer something completely different and are not to be missed.”
Other acts include Wigan singer Scott Chapman, Inside View, Cautious Retreat and Brandon Lee Webb.
Bands For All replaces the annual summer festival at Haigh Country Park - Haigh Fest, as organisers have once again decided to postpone it for another year, citing the struggle to find the right artists to pull in the crowds as the main reason.
Everyone is welcome to turn up on Saturday to watch the live acts for free.
