The band, made up of bassist Jon Coe, lead singer Martin Cunliffe or Mac, guitarist Michael Parker and drummer Aidan Butler, says it is extremely happy with the new track and looking forward to sharing it with fans.

Ravellas are holding a launch party at The Old Courts on March 31.

The song once again sees the group tap into ordinary northern experiences for its subject while channelling the sound of indie’s hottest properties of the moment.

Mac said: “Reputation is about a girl and a lad who come together but the lad listens to certain things said around the town about her.

“He takes notice of reputation and doesn’t focus on what she is actually like.

“It’s an upbeat indie song and we’ve been getting really good feedback about it. We probably think it’s our best song to date. We’re really happy with it.”

Ravellas have spent much of the winter writing the songs that will make up the EP and are preparing to release them over the next few months.

The group recorded at Sugar House Studio in St Helens, which has been used by the likes of highly-acclaimed and tragic indie act Viola Beach.

Ravellas are influenced by a number of classic Manchester acts such as Oasis and The Smiths and also take inspiration from successful contemporary acts like Stillia, who they have shared a stage with.

However, Mac says that when not on band duty the four musicians’ tastes range much wider, taking in genres such as hip hop.

He says: “It’s a broad spectrum. We don’t like just being pigeonholed as indie. It’s about trying to create a sound that people will like.”

Ravellas will release new single Reputation on March 31, the date of the launch party at The Old Courts.

The group is now focusing on getting the new songs out to their fans, having chalked up live successes including touring with Highly Suspect and Tom Clarke from The Enemy.
