A WIGAN ska band and long-standing favourite on the live circuit will kick off 2015 with the first in a series of nights at a town centre venue.
Seven-piece RedEyed Jedi will bring their upbeat brass beats and gravelly vocals to The Boulevard for a double set on Friday january 23, meaning audiences will get at least 90 minutes of their Caribbean ska sound.
The headline gig is the first of four planned nights at the Wallgate venue, which the group hopes will bring them into the new year with a bang.
The group has been playing in the borough’s bars and clubs since 2011 and has performed regularly at The Boulevard throughout its career.
Danny Leyland, vocalist and guitarist, said: “We are excited about the upcoming year. We have got so much to look forward to and this gig is just the beginning.
“This is our first public appearance this year and I can guarantee that there are many more to come.”
The frontman also confirmed that RedEyed Jedi will be releasing an EP, which has not yet been named, in early summer and hopes to hit the festival circuit later this year.
“We are recording this weekend at Alien Sounds, a studio in Leigh. We’ve got some new, exciting tracks on the way which I hope will relate to the old fans and bring in the new.”
Tonight’s gig will be the third live show with new bassist Tom Roberts, who has replaced Daz White on four-string duties.
RedEyed Jedi will perform at The Boulevard on Friday January 23. Doors are at 9:45pm and entry is free.
