ONE of the borough’s best loved choirs is set to perform again this weekend.
Parkside Male Voice Choir will be singing at St Barnabas Church in Marsh Green, Wigan on Saturday (September 22) at 7.30pm with tickets available to pay on the door.
The cost is £4 which includes refreshments in the interval.
Spokesperson Susan Boyd said: “One of the members of the choir, John Baron, is a regular member of our church and the choir sing all over and their proceeds are all in aid of charity.
“St Barnabas tries to reach their wider community and it is hoped people will come along.”
Based in Ashton, Parkside Choir was formed to boost comradeship between miners at the colliery from different pits across Lancashire after various pit closures.
But with the mine gone some 45 years later the choir are still enjoying that community spirit within and sharing it with audiences across the North West ... as well as keeping the colliery’s name alive for new generations.
Since 1973 rehearsal is held at Ashton Library Hall.
