A SUPERLATIVE amount of entertainment will hit Wigan tonight.
Northern Lights, formerly held at Nirvana which now takes place at The Press Rooms on Rawbottom Square, brings live music in the form of Wigan bands The Shook Ups and Dressing For Pleasure.
Formed from members of various Wigan bands such as Moco, The V.C’s, Filthy Romance, The Stags and Doktor Combover, The Shook Ups play a comprehensive wall of sound ranging from blue eyed motown soul on steroids to pounding fuzzed out garage punk.
Joining them are alt-rock band Dressing For Pleasure.
Formed in 2010 by Birmingham sisters Naomi and Alexandria Hewston, they were later joined on drums by Wigan’s Jessica Smith, formerly of Filthy Romance.
The girls soon became known nationwide after supporting Adam Ant on his UK tour.
They play songs that hit you were it hurts but you’re sure to thrive off the pain dished out by this trio.
The night kicks off from 11pm and bands are followed by the legendary club night of The Lux, entry is £3
The Imploding Inevitable nights never fail to impress at The Tudor and to get you in the mood for the Press Rooms, have some cracking bands lined up for beforehand.
From 9pm, The Existence of Harvey Lord will take to the stage followed by the headline act, The Shivers.
Harvey Lord hold the record at The Tudor for having the most people on stage last time they played – they return with their psych-folk sounds to give you a night you won’t forget.
New York-based band, The Shivers will slot in their show at The Tudor amongst many other UK gigs they have lined up.
They bring their rock ‘n’ roll attitude to town and are said to be influenced by your mother...
