Town is ready to party

DETAILS have been released of Ashton’s Christmas lights switch-on.

This year’s event is bigger than ever starting at noon on Friday December 7 with children’s crafts being organised by Ashton Library and Children’s Centre.

And because no Christmas event would be complete without Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto will be open from 2pm.

Refreshments will be available from the library and there will also be a McMillan Coffee session and charity stalls.

The fun continues from 6pm outside the library with carols from the Trinity Girls Band, singing by Ed Feery and entertainment from Paul Dee.

Ashton Rotary Club will also be there with Santa and his sleigh.

And the lights could be turned on…by you!

Once again, organisers and ward councillors will be choosing the person or persons to press the big red light switch by raffle on the night.

So wrap up warm, and be prepared for your moment of glory as the crowd counts down and someone lights up Ashton with cheerful colours for Christmas. And, of course, it is eco-friendly energy-saving LED lighting all around town as ever.
