On Tuesday August 4, Harwood’s officially moves from its current home in Standish High Street to a larger base on Pepper Lane.
Owners Andy and Sarah Harwood gave Wigan Today an exclusive tour of the new premises which only have a few finishing touches to be added before the big launch.
The couple have been producing and selling high-end patisserie and chocolates for getting on for eight years now: the first two from market stalls, more recently from their High Street emporium.
The company’s reputation continues to rise and was boosted by reaching the final of Channel Four’s Bake-Off: The Professionals three years ago.
All the delicious sweet favourites are coming over from the old shop, but the new Harwood’s will also be selling home-made pies and sandwiches plus drinks, with seating available for customers.
The business is occupying the premises of the legendary Gent’s Pie Shop, and the Harwoods have received the full blessing of now retired Malcolm and Carole Gent who are delighted that another family firm will be occupying the space.
