As Wigan's old M&S building faces a new era we recall its department store years

Following news, which we exclusively revealed last week, that Wigan’s famous old Marks and Spencer building is to become a major new children’s visitor attraction called Imagine That!, we thought it a good time to remember that long chapter in its life when it was one of the town centre's most popular retailers.

These pictures feature many staff from yesteryear, particularly in the 1970s, but also employees and customers from other decades too.
