Wiganers can now get their Galloways pie fix as shops start to reopen

A beloved Wigan bakery has started re-opening its shops much to the delight of Wiganers.

Galloways reopened 14 of its 25 pie shops on Wednesday following the closure of them all during the UK's coronavirus lockdown.

Shops to have reopened include those in Hindley, Aspull and Standish.

However all of the Galloways' Wigan town centre branches will remain closed - for now.

And the shops have opened their doors with a number of social distancing measures in place.

Bays have been marked out in shops with a limited a number of customers allowed in at one time. Shoppers will also be asked to make contactless payments where possible and provide sanitiser stations.

The stores have reopened with a limited product range.

The next shops to open as part of the phased re-opening will include those in Market Place, Tunstall Lane, Pemberton and Smithy Green. No date has been given for when these stores will re-open.
