Flippin' fun at Wigan's Grand Arcade as the annual pancake races take place

For the second year running Wigan's Grand Arcade played host to a Shrove Tuesday spectacular as traders and staff did battle in pancake races.

The mall successfully revived this town centre tradition last year and there was no quarter given in a series of fierce competitions.

The competition was won by Dave Crompton, a member of the centre's security team.

Grand Arcade manager Mike Matthews said: "It's a great little tradition that we have revived and it is competitive and fun in equal measure. Everyone went flat out to win!"
