Steve Goulden, site manager at Taylor Wimpey’s Bakersfield development in New Springs, was honoured with an NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award.

He was chosen from 11,000 entries to receive the award, which recognise dedication to building high-quality properties for new home-buyers.

Chloe Dunn, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, added: “We are committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality and customer service and this recognition has ensured that we continue to be an NHBC award-winning housebuilder year after year.

“Steve’s Quality Award is thoroughly deserved, and we’ll all be supporting him as he progresses through to the regional heats and hopefully to the grand final in London.”

Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide awards scheme that recognises the significant contribution of site managers who achieve the highest standards in new home construction.

There is a rigorous judging process by NHBC inspectors, which includes assessments of developments during the year and spot checks.

It has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for more than three decades.

The competition’s regional events will take place virtually in the autumn, while the Supreme Award winners will be announced in January.

Taylor Wimpey’s Bakersfield development on Cale Lane, which is located on the former site of a Hovis factory, includes a range of new homes with three and four bedrooms.

The bakery was set up more than 80 years ago and became a crumpet-making centre of excellence as part of Rank Hovis MacDougal group.

Latterly it was operated by British Bakeries – part of the giant combine Premier Foods – before production ended in 2016.
