The winners for the Beauty Therapist of the Year category will be announced on Friday April 21, 2023 at the UKHBA Red Carpet Event in Birmingham.

Samantha started her own beauty business in 2019, offering mobile beauty services in and around the Wigan area, working it around her job as a sales assistant while she got it off the ground.

During the first Covid lockdown, she was furloughed from her job due to having a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which affects connective tissue and can cause unusually flexible joints and skin that stretches and breaks easily.

It was during this time that she decided to research her passion for beauty and become an entrepreneur.

Samantha said: “I am so honoured to have my work acknowledged at this level, in such a short space of time.

“During lockdown I had to be furloughed from my full time job due to having classical Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which is a rare disorder caused by faulty collagen.

“Due to working within a very busy environment at the time, there was no way of knowing how my body would react if I would have caught Covid.

“I used this time to my advantage and researched the beauty industry, identifying gaps and find ways to include them within my business.

“I am so grateful for my clients, it’s thanks to them I am able to do what I love each day!

“I absolutely love when my clients have nail art. I feel this is always an expression of my clients personality and character being portrayed onto their nails.

“I offer inclusive appointments for people with disabilities and modify my treatments to suit individual needs and allow extra treatment time to facilitate the best I can.

"By the end of next year, I hope to start my journey becoming an accredited training academy, offering beauty training across the UK.”
